A NEW PATTERN with a black bear fur wing… Good intro on the stream last year and dedicated to ” Blen “…a slip of the tongue from the old man… Special mention of Wayne Grauer… Hope you try some of these on your home waters….
LIST OF MATERIALS ________________________
- size #16 TO # 18 Mustad 94845 barbless or your choice
- dubbing of chocolate mahogany, or hares ear, or your choice
- brown 6/0 Danville
- special wing of black bear fur roots, cut from about 1/4 inch above hide
- optional hackle of grizzly or ginger OR plain version with no hackle at all…
This is a great replacement for CDC and I find it less gummy after being taken by a fish. I recondition the fly thru only false casting or by applying silica powder or liquid like Troutsmen dry fly dressing..
Drift dry, skitter or pop under and fish back to you as in the Leisenring Lift. The secret to me is to activate your fly as in the book Fishing the Dry Fly as a Living Insect written by Leonard Wright.
NOTE: Special dedication to Mr. Wayne Grauer, from whom I purchased the rod in the video, a Wes Jordan which he said was one of the finest rods he ever cast. And believe me, he was absolutely right. Wayne has passed on and will be sorely missed but he influenced so many people….a legend…
